Born in Haifa, Israel in 1922. He started playing violin at the age of 5 and gave the first concert when he was 7 years old. When violinist Bronislav Huberman heard him play, he sent him to study at the Conservatoire of Paris, where he won a first price at the age of 12. After graduated, he studied with Georg Enesco and Jacques Thibaud, Carl Flesch, among others. In 1951, he was awarded at the International Competition of Marguerite-Long Jacques-Thibaud and made a debut in U.S.A in 1956. Soon he was acclaimed as a genius, virtuoso violinist and started worldwide activity. He is regarded as a rare violinist who can pass the 19 century's performing style as he had performed with Casals, Heifetz, Serkin, Omandy, Szell, Horenstein, Cluytens who was great historical musicians. Also, He performed with great artists and orchestras such like Argerich, Baremboim, Mehta, Imbal, Detoit, Orchestra de Paris, New York Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouw, Leningrad Philharmonic, etc. He started recordings from 1950 and won several prizes, such like ACC Disc Award in France, the recording of the year of Herald Tribune in U.S.A, etc. Especially in Japan, he released the CD "Beppu Argerich Festival", DVD of "Unaccompanied Sonates in Casals Hall", "Tokyo Live in 2013" etc. He is UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and visited Japan after the great East Japan earthquake in 2011 and did charity concerts every time when he visits Japan.
