Ichiro Higuchi is a sophomore at Toho Gakuen School of Music. He began the piano at the age of four. In 2007, Higuchi won the silver prize in the nation-wide final at the 31st PTNA Piano Competition C-Class. In 2010 he performed in the winners' concert of the nationwide 26th Japan Piano Teachers Association Piano Audition. In 2011, Higuchi won Grand Prix in the junior high school division of the 24th Kyushu & Yamaguchi Junior Piano Competition. In 2015, he won a gold prize and the Saitama Governor Prize at the 8th Kumagaya Hibari Piano Competition and performed at a salon concert in Yamano Music, Ginza. In 2016, Higuchi won first prize at the 35th Iizuka Young Musician Competition, and also received the Education, Culture, Sports, Science Minister's Award, Asahi Shimbun Prize, Iizuka Mayor Prize, and Iizuka Cultural Association Prize in the same competition, and won a prize at the 8th Kazuko Yasukawa Memorial Competition. He had lessons with M. Voskresensky, Michiko Okamoto, and Susumu Aoyagi at the Kasama International Music Academy 2016 and performed in the Students' Concert. Higuchi appeared in the Students' Concert for Toho Gakuen's distinguished students. He won first prize at the 85th Music Competition of Japan and at the same time won the Nomura Prize, Iguchi Prize, Kawai Prize, E. Nakamichi Prize and Argerich Arts Foundation Prize. Higuchi has had classes with M. Voskresensky, P. Devoyon, and B. Riggtto, and studied with Yumiko Kawaguchi and Junko Nakamura. Currently he studies with Michiko Okamoto.
