|Message from Martha Argerich
|In 2021, we are still struggling against the novel coronavirus that started last year.
I, myself, experienced lockdowns in Europe. In the midst of the everchanging uncertainties of the situation, our entry to Japan finally became possible through the efforts of everyone involved on our behalf.
I would like to express my gratitude for their hard work.
We are still living in the abnormal environment of having to keep social distance between one another, but this has also reminded us of the importance of spending time with other people.
Now musicians more frequently have to perform in empty halls without an audience.
This situation reaffirms to us that we need communication with other people and music is a rare non-verbal means to generate the interaction of minds.
Now I feel it is a miracle to be able to share time with you in the same space.
I believe continuing to do the things we can do now while cherishing every moment will lead us on the road to the future.
I hope we will value mutual tolerance, maintaining modesty and consideration amongst all of us living together on this planet.
I would be happy if you could share this thought with me.

|The Music Festival in the new coronavirus pandemic
|I deeply appreciate for your coming to our Music Festival today.
We are now experiencing the history of suffering an infectious disease human beings have had several times in the past. I would like to extend my sincere condolences to those who lost their loved ones and the people who are suffering the disease.
Undergoing many difficulties we experienced many scenes where we felt we were obliged to give up this year again. However, thanks to the support from all the people and musicians involved, the Music Festival began in February. This is a miracle. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you.
I am writing this message in beautiful fresh greenery, wishing that General Director Martha Argerich and Mr. Maisky, together with Japanese musicians, perform on stage in May to convey the joy of music to you.
Even now, it is extremely difficult to overcome various problems to make the entry to Japan possible. We have asked Ms. Argerich and Mr. Maisky for many requests and patience. I don't have anything except for feelings of gratitude for their generosity and kindness. Underlining is their love of music and thoughtfulness toward the people in Japan.
This year Ms. Argerich has her 80th birthday. We would like to celebrate her birthday together with you. She is a present given to the people on the earth by the god of music. I hope she will be back to Japan any number of times.
Congratulations and thank you, Martha.
Wishing for we can deliver a moment of relief to those who attend the Music Festival.
