Naoto Sakiya studied at Hochschule für Musik Köln, le Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de Danse de Paris, and the Toho Gakuen College soloist diploma course, and then completed Musik-Akademie der Stadt Basel. He took first place at Novosibirsk International Violin Competition and third place at Yehudi Menuhin International Competition for Young Violinists. In 2006 Sakiya formed the Verus String Quartet. The quartet won third place in the quartet division at the 57th ARD International Music Competition in Munich in 2008 and the Osaka International Chamber Music Competition in 2011.
He has performed with many major domestic orchestras as guest concertmaster including the Japan Century Symphony Orchestra, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, and NHK Symphony Orchestra. Currently Sakiya is a solo concertmaster of Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra, and the first violinist of Verus String Quartet.
