Koichi Yokomizo graduated from Toho Gakuen College. He won a prize in the high school division at the Tokyo district of the 59th Student Music Concours of Japan. In 2006 Yokomizo formed the Verus String Quartet. As the violist of the Quartet, he took third place in the string quartet division at the 57th ARD International Music Competition in Munich. Yokomizo has participated in various music festivals inside and outside Japan including the Miyazaki International Music Festival, MUSIC FESTIVAL Argerich's Meeting Point in Beppu, and Saito Kinen Festival Matsumoto. He studied the violin with Takumi Komoriya, Masafumi Hori and Tsugio Tokunaga, and chamber music with Tsugio Tokunaga, Hakuro Mori, Koichiro Harada and the Tokyo Quartet. Currently Yokomizo is a vice principle violist of the NHK Symphony Orchestra. He also performs for diverse orchestras as guest violist.
