We announced, upon the request of the Mito Chamber Orchestra, Maestro Seiji Ozawa's conducting at the concert that is jointly produced with the Orchestra. We sincerely ask for your understanding of possible changes due to Maestro's health condition on the day of the concert. In the case the piece is performed without conductor or Maestro Ozawa conducts only part of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No.2, we will not refund the tickets as in an ordinary concert because of the changes in the program or artists. We would sincerely like your kind understanding.

Message from Martha Argerich

To the people in Japan

The first Music Festival of mine in my life that began in Japan celebrated its 20th anniversary last year.

We were able to recover the historical connection between Rome and Oita that started 460 years ago by realizing a concert in Rome together with the people in Rome.
The effect of my Music Festival has also spread from its birthplace Japan to Buenos Aires, Lugano and Hamburg.

The Pinocchio Concert Project was born from this Music Festival as one of its core activities. The Concerts aim to pursue what music can do in society. The project's purpose is to directly affect people's hearts, which is the unique quality of music and art. It is very important for many people across generations to experience music for their mental growth.

As part of such activities, with the cooperation of Nippon Life Insurance Company, I am going to perform a piece by Beethoven, who was full of humanity, together with Maestro Seiji Ozawa and Mito Chamber Orchestra, commemorating the 100th Pinocchio Concert.
Performing with the superb musicians of Mito is always special for me. I am looking forward to the reunion.

I hope the small seed we cultivate will grow big toward the future.
I would like you to watch and support this activity of ours.

Pinocchio Concert - Concerts nurturing adults and children

The Pinocchio Concert is an educational program that was launched by Martha Argerich, President of Argerich Arts Foundation, and Kyoko Ito, Vice Chairperson of the Foundation, to promote "mind education" for children who will be the driving force of the future. In Pinocchio Concerts children develop imagination and minds through music and talks, and parents think of what they can do to create a peaceful society where children can have rich and tender spirit. With the cooperation of Argerich's Friends and Nippon Life Insurance Company, we held "Nippon Life Insurance Company presents Pinocchio Concert in Tokyo" on May 18, 2015 and established the Pinocchio Funds, with the proceeds of the concert. Using the Pinocchio Funds the Concerts have been held at various venues including Nissay Theater, Lake Biwa Museum, Shiiki presents Argerich's Haus and schools inside and outside Oita Prefecture. We will advance the Project for its further development.
